5:08 pm - Yankees @ Astros (2-3)
Behind James Paxton, the Yankees were able to get to Justin Verlander early on, and made it stand up thereafter. As a result, the series shifts back to Houston, without a rest day, thanks to the rain-out earlier in the week. Interestingly, both teams are holding back on starters, opting instead to go with a bullpen start. The Astros will be hoping to avoid needing to use Gerrit Cole, so that he can go in Game 1 of the World Series, if they prevail tonight. The Yankees will be hoping simply to survive, so that they can turn the ball over to Luis Severino in a win-or-go-home Game 7 tomorrow.
I must confess, I do kinda want to see that, just for purposes of drama. I’d actually be around to see that, too. Tonight, I’ll be helping Mrs. SnakePit at Phoenix FearCon, our horror event in Tempe (the rather stabby awards we’re giving out are above!), so will be otherwise engaged. Tomorrow and Monday have been taken off to recover, so the idea of some baseball to occupy myself tomorrow does appeal...
