A far-too early attempt at crowdsourcing the Arizona Diamondbacks 2020 roster

I mean, the season HAS been over for almost 48 hours now...

Below, you will find a poll listing all the players who appeared for the Diamondbacks during the 2019 roster, and who are still under team control through the end of the season. So, no Zack Greinke, but I have included those who will become free-agents after the World Series. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to pick the ones you think will be on the Opening Day roster, when the 2020 season rolls around, next March 26. Don’t worry too much about picking EXACTLY 25 26. [as Ben points out, there’s an extra man next year] I couldn’t figure out a way to count or limit the selections, but I’m not going to discard you if you select 27. Though if you’re checking 35 or more, you’re probably doing it wrong. :)

Probably the best bet is to go through the list, checking the ones you think are sure-certs. Then go through again, checking the ones you think are very likely. After that, count up how many boxes you’ve ticked, and figure it out from there. But I am not the boss of you, so feel free to do it however you want! There is also a free-form “other” box, in which you can put any other players you think will be on the roster. These could be prospects who didn’t play this season, free agents, potential trade targets, etc.

I’ll tally the results, and come up with a resulting 26-man squad: five starting pitchers, seven relievers, eight starters and five bench players. So it won’t QUITE be a strict popularity contest, as I will have to take roster construction into consideration, to some degree. Expect the result of this exercise to dribble out during the coming week or to. I’ll probably close the poll at the weekend. Of course, feel free to discuss your selections in the comments. I think this off-season will be quieter than last, in terms of wholesale changes, but there are still quite a few questions to be answered...
