Only one team played yesterday and that was Rookie ball affiliate Missoula and they ended up winning in walkoff fashion, 3-2. Marcos Tineo allowed 2 runs in 5 innings, walking 1 and striking out 7. After trading zeros through the first 4 innings, Helena scored in the top of the 4th on a poor throw from catcher Nick Dalesandro on a pickoff attempt at 2nd that sailed into center field. Missoula quickly countered with 1 out when after a Kristian Robinson walk and subsequent TOOTBLAN at 2nd base, Eddie Hernandez doubled to left and scored on a Brandon Leyton RBI single. Helena scored again in the 5th when Bryan Torres singled with runners at 2nd and 3rd, but Alek Thomas was able to throw out Brewers’ top pick Brice Turang at home for the final out and keep the damage at one.
In the 7th, the Osprey pushed across the tying run that started with a 1-out triple by speedster Jorge Barrosa. David Sanchez then pushed a ground ball through a drawn-in infield for the equalizing run. Solid relief work kept the Osprey in the game with Mailon Arroyo and Tyler Jandron each pitching a perfect inning with a pair of strikeouts. Ezequiel De La Cruz pitched the final 2 innings, giving up just an infield single and struck out 5. Cesar Garcia opened up the 9th with a line drive single that the Helena shortstop could not handle cleanly. After a wild pitch and passed ball put Garcia at 3rd with 2 outs, Thomas delivered the knockout blow with a walk-off single. Thomas finished the game 3 for 5 with a double.
