Arizona Diamondbacks 2, San Diego Padres 6

Can we send out an amber alert for the offense?

The lack of runs which plagued the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles was not alleviated by a return to Phoenix. Despite taking a lead in the first on Steven Souza's RBI single, the D-backs managed only three further hits the rest of the way.

The Padres hit back immediately, with a three-run homer in the second inning off Zack Godley. Though he had been very good at keeping the ball in the park, Zack allowed another homer in the fourth to make it 4-1 to San Diego. Godley went five innings, allowing four runs on two hits and two walks, striking out seven.

Jimmy Sherfy and Silvino Bracho threw scoreless innings of relief, before T.J. McFarland and Matt Koch combined to give up two further runs in the eighth. The D-backs got one back on Paul Goldschmidt's RBI double, but could get no closer. Souza and David Peralta each had a single and a walk.

The full recap will be... a while.
