Diamondbacks Minor League Recap 8/8/2018

The Diamondbacks Minor League affiliates combined to go 1-2 with Kane County being the only affiliate to win last night. Here are some of the stars from those games:

Hot Bats:

Kane County 2B Jancarlos Cintron 3 for 4, 2B, 3B, 3 R

Quality Starts:

Kane County RHP Lane Ratliff 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R (2 ER), 3 BB, 7 K, GS 63, W (4-1)

Jackson Generals 3, Cattanooga Lookouts 5: Emilio Vargas’ 2nd start with Jackson proved to be near disastrous as he allowed 4 runs in 5 13 innings on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jackson’s offense did not arrive until too late, trailing 5-1 going into the 9th. A bad defensive play in LF and a Marty Herum RBI single put Jackson within 2 and the tying run up to the plate, but that’s as far as they got.

Visalia Rawhide 2, Lake Elsinore Storm 11: Sebastian Kessay took the start for Visalia and got promptly lit up for 8 runs in 4 13 innings. There wasn’t much going offensively as Visalia’s runs scored on a Drew Ellis sac fly and Renae Martinez solo HR.

Kane County Cougars 4, Peoria Chiefs 2: Lane Ratliff allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, allowing 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. Jancarlos Cintron fell a home run short of the cycle and scored 3 of Kane County’s 4 runs in the game. The bullpen managed to pitch 3 shutout innings despite a 0/4 K/BB ratio.

AZL Dbacks 1, AZL Mariners 0 (Susp. B2): Alex King led off with a single with the 3B making a throwing error on the play. After an errant pickoff throw to 2nd, King advanced to 3rd and scored on a Kevin Watson Jr. single. Watson was then thrown out attempting to steal 2nd. Francis Beriguette so far has 2 scoreless innings, allowing just a 1st inning double and a trio of 1st inning strikeouts.
