David Peralta had another big night falling just a triple shy of the cycle but tying a career high with his 17th homer. Paul Goldschmidt hit the 200th HR of his career, and the offense would score 5 in the first and 1 in the second. The DBacks had multiple chances after the 2nd to extend the lead, but the 6 runs would have to be enough on this night.
It was. Despite a few long at bats and a high pitch count through 3 innings, Patrick Corbin went 6 innings, giving up 3 earned runs, and the “A” bullpen of Hirano, Bradley and Boxberger preserved the lead, each with a scoreless inning. Full recap to follow a bit later.
