Hot Bats:

Jackson RF Jay Gonzalez 3 for 4, RBI
Visalia LF Ramon Hernandez 3 for 4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI
Visalia 1B Pavin Smith 2 for 3, 2B, 4 RBI, R

Quality Starts:

Jackson RHP Emilio Vargas 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 4 K, GS 57
Visalia RHP Jeff Bain 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 6 K, GS 60
Kane County RHP Franklyn Soriano 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, GS 63, W (2-3)

Reno Aces 3, Salt Lake Bees 2 (F/11): Matt Koch pitched the first inning was lifted after that, presumably with September roster expansions in mind. Albert Suarez allowed 1 run in 4 innings after that. Deven Marrero tied the game in the 5th with a solo homer and that was all the scoring until the 11th. Reno scored twice in the 11th on RBI hits by Chris Owings and Kevin Cron to take a 3-1 lead. Jimmie Sherfy would allow the free runner to score in the bottom of the inning, but that was it.

Jackson Generals 2, Chattanooga Lookouts 1: Emilio Vargas allowed just a solo homer in 6 innings, striking out 4. Dominic, who now goes by Dom, Miroglio and Jay Gonzalez each had 2-out RBI hits in the game, which was enough thanks to solid relief work. Ryan Atkinson struck out the side in order in the 7th to pick up the win, Jared Miller pitched a scoreless 8th with more K’s (2) than walks (1), and Kevin Ginkel worked a 1-2-3 9th for the save.

Visalia Rawhide 8, Modesto Nuts 9: Jeff Bain allowed 2 runs in 6 innings and put Visalia in a position to win until the bullpen blew it. Visalia opened up a 5-2 lead with the help of solo homers by Stephen Smith and Ramon Hernandez. Pavin Smith also had 4 RBI as he had 2 hits and a walk in the game. Unfortunately, the bullpen was a special type of bad as 7 runs between the 7th and 8th inning scored.

Kane County Cougars 3, Peoria Chiefs 1: A 3-run 5th was enough for Kane County to grind out a win. Eudy Ramos opened up the scoring with a home run and the Cougars scored two more times in the inning. Franklyn Soriano struck out 5 in 5 scoreless innings. Rafael Pujols allowed an unearned run in 2 13 and Kyler Stout picked up the final 5 outs to close out the game.

Hillsboro Hops 5, Boise Hawks 2: Matt Tabor allowed 2 runs in 5 innings on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 5. Hillsboro gave him a lead with a 3-run 4th inning that involved sloppy Boise defense. Troy Scribner finished the game with 4 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts and Hillsboro tacked on two more runs for insurance in the 9th.

Missoula Osprey 11, Billings Mustangs 17 (F/10): A pair of 7 run innings doomed Missoula in this game, as they were unable to keep innings from spiraling out of control. Missoula opened up with a 6-0 lead, then immediately lost it in the 5th. Marcos Tineo faced 5 hitters and got no outs with all 5 coming around to score. On top of the offense, there was no defense in the game as the two teams combined for 31 hits and 9 errors. A 4-run 7th allowed the Osprey to once again take a 10-9 lead, but that lead did not last either. The game went into extra innings where Jake Polancic could not get anyone out and Landon Whitson poured gasoline on the fire for another 7-run inning. Missoula scratched a run across in the bottom of the 10th as a mere pittance.
