Arizona Diamondbacks 5, Seattle Mariners 2

Zack Greinke and Paul Goldschmidt powered Arizona to take the series finale against Seattle.

The Diamondbacks rode a five-run third inning to retake sole possession of first place in the NL West, as the Rockies lost to the Cardinals. A.J. Pollock started the scoring with a sacrifice fly, David Peralta followed with an RBI infield single, and then Paul Goldschmidt blasted his 30th homer of the year, a three-run shot to provide single inning tacos.

A Ketel Marte error led to a first inning run for the Mariners, but Zack Greinke settled in thereafter. He allowed only that unearned run through 6.2 innings, on five hits and two walks - both to former D-back Chris Herrmann! - with six strikeouts. Andrew Chafin and Archie Bradley got us to the ninth, where Yoshihisa Hirano, Peralta and Brad Boxberger made it unnecessarily exciting. Let's leave it at that!
