Boxberger and Diekman blow game late for DBacks as offense has quiet night

MLB: Seattle Mariners at Arizona Diamondbacks Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Brad Boxberger blew a 3-1 lead in the 9th on a Kyle Seager Double and Jake Diekman gave up a go ahead solo shot to Denard Span in the top of the 10th.

Robbie Ray struggled once again with his pitch count needing 105 pitches to complete 5 innings. Although he allowed just 1 run, he left 12 outs on the table for the bullpen again and that turned out to be too many for the D backs tonight as they had to use 6 relievers.

The offense was once again stymied by a soft tosser, this time Wade Leblanc going 7 innings giving up just 1 run an Eduardo Escobar homer in the first. The offense would get to the Mariners pen for 2 runs in the 7th, but it wasn’t enough. A golden opportunity was squandered in the 10th with runners on the corners and nobody out, but they failed to score . Full recap of this mess later.
