Pit Your Wits ‘18: Week 18

Last week, I asked you all to come up with a plot summary for the rest of the Diamondbacks’ season. Lots of great entries again this week, with a Sedona Red comment missing the podium for another week. In first place, we find, Mr. Michael McD!

As we hit the final stretch of the 2018 Major League Baseball season

3 teams in the National League West division fight to the death to capture the Division Crown. Standing in the Diamondbacks way is the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies. Can the Dbacks overcome the Dodgers’ endless supply of home runs and the Rockies’ video game-like ballpark? With every pitch, swing, or play deciding the outcome of this battle for the division, you don’t want to change the channel.

Leading the charge for the Diamondback are All Jacks Pollock and Goldschmidt the Great. Behind their valor and the sorcery of The Greink Master and Hat Trick Corbin, the Dbacks hope to conquer all Dodgers, Rockies, Giants, and Padres in their way. With an army of reinforcements led by Field Marshall Ziegler, Mighty Mouse Escobar, and the Diek Man the ground forces are poised to halt any Dodger or Rockie advance.

In a very close second place, we find smartplays!

This summer, coming to a ballpark near you Three teams battling to the finish for one division crown. Will the evil, villainous Dodgers and their stacks of cash prevail once again? Can the Rockies overcome an awful bullpen or will they blow another chance at the title?

You’ll be at the edge of your seat, following the Dbacks championship journey. Watch as the Dodgers unleash a giant baboon on downtown Phoenix, destroying the power grid and threatening to put the lights out on the Dbacks season. See them respond with a memorable August led by the Golden Wonder, Captain AJ and new star Mr. Ed.

When Colorado and LA refuse to go away, the stakes grow higher each passing day for Arizona, all culminating in a final 7 game stretch versus Colorado and LA to close the season (we’re changing the schedule for added excitement).

You’ll see Rocky relieving, Machado melting and Greinke grenking, as the Dbacks reestablish their rightful spot as NL West Champs.

After two weeks, only four people have made it on the leaderboard. Maybe this week we see some new faces on here, but that’s up to you!

For this week’s prompt, I’m sure you’ve heard about Brad Boxberger’s creative use of the Player’s Weekend jerseys. I want you to choose one Dback player and give them their own emoji nickname. The only caveat I’ll put on it is that you can only use 3 emojis. It does have to fit on the back of a jersey, after all. Go!
