Zack Greinke had one of his best outings of the season, and led the D-backs to a much-needed win in the series finale at Chase Field. He held the Colorado Rockies to two hits over eight innings while striking out 13, and walking one. The Rockies did not have a single at-bat with a runner in scoring position this afternoon, and Greinke had a no-hitter until one out in the fifth when Ian Desmond got the ball just over the fence in right. A walk to Nolan Arenado and a Trevor Story single were the only other base-runners Zack allowed.

On offense, Arizona got some two-out magic for their early runs. Steven Souza had an RBI double in the first, then Nick Ahmed a two-run triple in the fourth. A three-run sixth iced the margin, with a bases-loaded walk to Ahmed and a two-run single by Jeff Mathis. Ahmed had two hits, and Daniel Descalso a hit and two walks. The Diamondbacks avoided the sweep and moved back into second place in the division, 112 games back of the Dodgers.
