An early innings pitching duel turned into what lately has become a typical Rockies DBacks game. After 3 scoreless frames for both side, the teams traded runs through the middle innings. The D Backs jumped out in front 3-0, but the Rockies came back to make it 3-2.
After going up 4-2, the D Backs would give up 2 more in the 6th as Zack Godley displayed some inexplicable issues throwing to first base. The teams would trade runs in the 7th and then a Tom Murphy pinch hit homerun of Yoshi Hirano in the 8th would prove to be the winning run. The D Backs threatened in the 9th, but could not convert as Nick Ahmed was called out on a questionable inside call to end the game.
The loss drops the DBacks behind the Rockies to 3rd place for the first time this season.
