Zack Godley streak of wins came to a thumping end this afternoon at Chase Field, as the trouble he had dodged in his previous four starts came home in spades. After a zero in the first, the Giants scored every other time Godley took the mound. He was eventually lifted after not recording an out in the fifth, and was charged with seven runs on nine hits and five walks over four innings. He also struck out five.
The D-backs had some changes, as the Giants’ starter was far from crisp. They briefly led 2-1 after two innings, but couldn’t capitalize after chasing the starter in the fourth. Paul Goldschmidt did hit his 18th home-run of the season in the seventh, to provide loss-flavored tacos, but the deficit was too big to overcome, though Arizona did get the tying run to the plate in the ninth. Jarrod Dyson had two hits, two RBI and two SB, with four other Diamondbacks getting two hits apiece, and Goldschmidt two walks in addition to his homer.
