The Diamondbacks minor league affiliates combined to a 3-3 with wins by the Visalia Rawhide, Kane County Cougars, and DSL Dbacks1.

Reno Aces 1, Nashville Sounds 5: A first inning homer from Socrates Brito was all the offense for the Aces (26-34). The Aces managed only 5 hits and had only 1 AB with a runner in scoring position. Bradin Hagens got touched up for 4 runs on 10 hits in 5 2⁄3 innings. Brito added a single and turned a double play by gunning down a runner at home. As a bright note, Jared Miller managed to pitch a game with multiple Ks and no walks.
Jackson Generals 5, Tennessee Smokies 7 F/10: Both starting pitchers were mostly ineffective in the game as 9 runs came across to score in the first 5 innings with the Geneals (32-27) taking a 5-4 lead on a Domingo Leyba 3-run homer. Ryan Atkinson allowed 4 runs (3 earned) in 5 innings on 6 hits, 3 walks, and 6 Ks. The Generals didn’t have a lot of hits with 6 total for the game, but 5 of their hits went for extra bases. Scoreless innings by Kevin Ginkel, Daniel Gibson, and the recently acquired Brad Goldberg, combining to allow 1 hit and no walks with 5 Ks, set the table up for Lopez to pick up the save. That did not happen as Lopez allowed a run to score in the 9th then fell apart in the 10th inning.
Visalia Rawhide 3, Modesto Nuts 1: This game started out as an excellent pitcher’s duel between Kevin McCanna and Colin Rodgers. Kevin McCanna allowed just 1 run in 7 innings with 5 Ks, but Rodgers was slightly better. Fortunately, the Rawhide (31-28) were able to make things happen against the Modesto bullpen. Stephen Smith hit a 2-run single and later scored on Camden Duzenack’s RBI single. With the lead, Wei-Chieh Huang pitched a scoreless 8th and Tyler Mark a scoreless 9th for the save although he allowed 2 hits but also K’d 2. Pavin Smith went 1 for 4, Drew Ellis 2 for 4 with a double and getting thrown out trying for a 2nd one, and Daulton Varsho 1 for 4.
Kane County Cougars 7, Peoria Chiefs 1: Matt Peacock allowed 9 hits, but was able to pitch himself out of trouble as only 1 of those 9 hits scored. On the other side, the bats were awake today as the whole lineup contributed. The Cougars busted out 14 hits although only one was an XBH (Yoel Yanqui triple). Gabriel Maciel had 3 hits and 2 runs scored, Jazz Chisholm had 2 hits with a walk and 2 RBI, and Eduardo Diaz had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
DSL Dbacks1 11, DSL Blue Jays 10: Striking throwing was clearly optional in the game as the two teams combined for 21 walks, 19 hits, and 21 runs. In a back-and-forth affair, both teams kept swapping leads with the Blue Jays holding a 7-4 lead after 5 1⁄2 and the Dbacks holding a 10-8 lead after 7. Jorge Barrosa drew 2 walks from the leadoff spot while Carmelo Paulino went 4 for 5. The game finally ended on a dribbler to shortstop with the bases loaded and the Dbacks victorious.
DSL Dbacks2 6, DSL Rangers2 7: Catcher Sandy Martinez was the show-stopper for the Dbacks, twice giving his team the lead with a pair of 2-run homers. His first blast gave the Dbacks a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, but the pitching wasn’t sharp as the Rangers scored 5 times to take a 5-3 lead. However, the Dbacks would answer in the 7th by plating a run and then Martinez launched another blast to give the Dbacks a 6-5 lead. The lead would not hold as Eduardo Perez allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th.
