The Diamondbacks state-side affiliates combined for an 0-2 record. The Reno Aces had the day off coupled with the final day of the All-Star break for the Diamondbacks, there were only two affiliates playing: Hillsboro and Missoula.
Hillsboro Hops 3, Eugene Emeralds 4: Both teams scored 3 runs in the first two innings, with Hillsboro taking advantage of wild pitches. However, the offense dried up after the 4th inning, getting only 2 hits and a walk in the final 5 trips to the plate. Eugene ended up taking the lead in the 5th when Josh Green was unable to prevent one of Kenny Hernandez’s two bequeathed runners from scoring. Hernandez allowed 4 runs in 4 1⁄3 innings on 7 hits, 0 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Andy Yerzy and Ryan January each recorded one hit, the latter also adding a walk.
Missoula Osprey 6, Helena Brewers 13: Pedro Zorrilla got mashed for 10 hits and 2 home runs, overall surrendering 7 runs in 4+ innings. The bullpen was not much of a help as they surrendered 6 runs after the fact. Buddy Kennedy had 3 hits, falling a triple short of the cycle, hitting his 2nd homer in as many days. Cesar Garcia and David Sanchez each added multi-hit games to the list and drove in the other 4 runs for Missoula. and drove in
