Reno Aces 11, Iowa Cubs 4: Another solid pitching performance from Taylor Clarke, who is banging on the door for a MLB opportunity. Clarke allowed 4 runs in 7 innings, although the last 2 runs came on his final inning, on 4 hits, 4 Ks, and 1 walk. The offense supported him in a big way with Christian Walker and Socrates Brito each having 4 hit games. A 4-run 7th inning after the Cubs cut the lead to 6-4 allowed the Aces (31-36) hitters to put the game away before the Cubs could finish the comeback bid. Randall Delgado in a rehab assignment collected 5 outs and 1 K while allowing 2 hits and no runs.
Jackson Generals 6, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 0: 5 Generals (37-29) pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter. Justin Donatella went the first 3 innings with 2 walks and 4 Ks, Daniel Gibson went 2 perfect innings with 3 K, Kirby Bellow had a walk in a scoreless 6th, Kevin Ginkel K’d 2 in 2 perfect innings, then Brad Goldberg finished it off with a perfect 9th with 2 Ks. Back-to-back solo jacks by Kevin Medrano and Domingo Leyba gave the Generals the lead in the 4th and they would tack on 4 more in the 7th. Leyba finished with a double and that homer, driving in 2.
Visalia Rawhide 7, Modesto Nuts 5: Robbie Ray’s first rehab start was a bit of a mixed bag, as he allowed 5 runs (2 earned) in 2 1⁄3 innings while allowing a pair of multi-run homers. Overall, he K’d 3 and walked none while allowing 5 hits. A lights out Visalia (35-32) bullpen gave the hitters a chance to come back in this game. A 3-run first followed by a run in the 5th set the stage for a comeback bid. Visalia plated 3 in the 8th for a last AB victory with Tommy Eveld closing things down with a 1-2-3 9th. Wei-Chieh Huang pitched 3 scoreless innings with 6 Ks to set up the comeback. Daulton Varsho was 1 for 2 with a RBI single and walk, Pavin Smith 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, Drew Ellis 0 for 3, and Marcus Wilson 2 for 5.
Kane County Cougars 3, Cedar Rapids Kernels 10: Matt Peacock got lit up for 6 runs on 10 hits, although the defense was also very sloppy with 4 errors behind him. The offense was unable to make much of a dent in the scoreboard with only 8 hits and 1 walk against solid Kernels pitching. Gabriel Maciel and Eduardo Diaz each went 1 for 4 while Jazz Chisholm was 0 for 4.
