Triple-A Reno 8 @ Memphis 5. C Anthony Recker had two home-runs and drove in six, and the Aces roared to an 8-0 lead by the middle of the fifth. Recker had two three-run shots, giving him 10 on the season. 1B Christian Walker also went deep, he and 2B Cesar Puello getting two hits, while 3B Kevin Cron doubled with three walks. Starter Anthony Vasquez pitched six scoreless, on four hits and three walks with two Ks. However, things got a bit tense as the Grizzlies responded with five runs after the seventh inning stretch. Jared Miller was tagged for all those, including three HR in his 1.2 frames of work, before Neftali Feliz got the last four outs.
Double-A Jackson 6 @ Mobile 4 (10). The Generals had it, lost it and finally won. Runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth had given them a 4-2 lead but Yoan Lopez blew the save, on a two-run double with two outs. Having had a solo shot in the eighth, Jamie Westbrook went one better with a two-run home-run in the 10th to retake the lead, and Lopez struck out the side in the bottom of the frame. Westbrook had four RBI, while C Jose Queliz drove in the other two and had two hits. Joe Payamps had a quality start, giving up two runs over six innings, on three hits, three walks and three K’s, and was followed by Daniel Gibson who tossed two scoreless frames.
High-A Visalia 4 @ Stockton 0. The Rawhide were held to six hits, but it was enough on a night where Emilio Vargas and two relievers completed a shutout of the Ports, on seven hits. Vargas went six innings, allowing four hits and two walks with six K’s, then Junior Garcia pitched the seventh, before Tyler Mark got the last six outs. CF Marcus Wilson led the Visalia offense, with his fifth homer and a double. 3B Luis Lara hit his first home-run and singled, while LF Mark Karaviotis reached base safely three times, on a double and two walks.
A-ball Kane County 1 @ Clinton 3. The Cougars were held to three hits, two of those coming off the bat of 3B Yan Sanchez, whose double was their only extra-base hit. DH Joey Rose drove in Kane County’s only run in the third. Starter Jayson McKinley scattered four hits over 4.2 innings, leading to two earned runs and one unearned. He walked none and struck out five. Erbert Gonzalez struck out four over 2.1 innings of relief.
DSL. Roster #1 won 9-5 against the White Sox, 3B Neyfy Castillo getting two hits and three RBI, while CF Jorge Barrosa got two hits and a walk, in a game called in the middle of the fifth. Roster #2 also won, 2-1 over the Cardinals- in unusual fashion. They were being shutout and down to their final out in the ninth with the bases empty, before five consecutive batters reached base without a hit! Two errors, then three walks led to a weird walk-off. Christian Pacheco allowed one run over six innings with six strikeouts.
