Tacoma Rainiers 4, Reno Aces 7

Albert Suarez got the start for the Aces, and had a rough outing, only pitching 3.1 innings, and giving up three runs on five hits and five walks, while striking out four. Jared Miller would take the ball in fourth, and would pitch 1.2 innings, giving up a run on two hits and a walk, and struck out two. Anthony Vasquez would pitch a scoreless inning, striking out two while working around two hits. Stefan Crichton pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth inning, giving up just a hit and a walk. Jimmie Sherfy would close out the ninth, and struck out three while working around a hit and a walk to earn the save, his sixth of the year.

Ildemaro Vargas would have a nice night at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. Jack Reinheimer went 2 for 4 with a sac fly. Catcher Michael Perez was 1 for 4 at the dish, but hit a two run home run in the first. Socrates Brito was 1 for 2 with a pair of walks. Evan Marzelli was hitless, but would walk twice, and score two runs.

Montgomery Biscuits 4, Jackson Generals 5

Ryan Atkinson got the start in this one, and pitched 5.0 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out eight. Yuhei Nakaushiro pitched a rough inning, giving up a run on a homerun, but also walked three batters in the inning, but he did strike out two. Michael Dimock would pitch 1.2 innings, and would give up a run on two hits, while striking out one. Kirby Bellow would get the last out in the eighth, but not before letting an inherited runner score, blowing the save. Bellow would pitch a scoreless ninth, and luckily for him, the Generals would rally in the ninth, earning him the win,

Several Generals players with some solid trips to the plate in this one. Jamie Westbrook was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Jose Vinicio was 3 for 5 and Kevin Medrano was 2 for 4. Jason Morozowski was 1 for 4, but drove in three runs with a home run. Galli Cribbs was hitless, but walked twice, scoring a run

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 3 Visalia Rawhide 0

A tough loss for the Rawhide in this one, especially when every player on the Rawhide except Raymel Flores had a hit. The lack of offense stings, especially with a decent start from Riley Smith, who pitched six innings, and gave up three runs (two earned) on 8 hits and 2 walks, while striking out five. The unearned run came thanks to a throwing error by catcher Dominic Miroglio in the first. Tyler Mark pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk, and struck out three. Tommy Eveld tossed 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk as well.

The Rawhide offense showed up for work today, getting 10 hits and 3 walks, but they couldn’t capitalize on all the base runners, going 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position, and 12 men left on base. Camden Duzenack and Dominic Miroglio were both 2 for 4 wih a double, although Duzenack reached base a third time by drawing a walk. Marcus Wilson reached base twice, going 1 for 4 with a walk. Pavin Smith reached base twice as well, going 1 for 3 with a walk.

Kane County Cougars 0, Great Lakes Loons 1

A really tough loss for Cougars starter Jeff Bain, who pitched six innings, and only allowed a run on three hits and a walk, and struck out seven. Erbert Gonzalez pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk, and struck out two.

The Cougars only reached base eight times in the game, on three walks and five hits. Ernie De La Trinidad was the only Cougars batter with any real success in the game. Trinidad went 3 for 4 with a double, the only Cougar with an extra base hit in the game. Yan Sanchez and Luis Alejandro Basebe both had a hit apiece, accounting for the rest of the hits. Yoel Yanqui, Joey Rose, and Renae Martinez each drew a walk, accounting for the rest of Kane County’s base runners.

Monday I will be publishing an interview with Jackson Generals shortstop Galli Cribbs, and next weekend. I’ll be publishing an interview with Generals Second Baseman, and Arizona native, Jamie Westbrook. Keep an eye open for both of those interviews, and others in the future.
