Dodgers 2, Diamondbacks 1

The Diamondbacks were unable to further abuse a downtrodden Dodgers’ bullpen after Hyun-Jin Ryu is lifted in the 2nd inning.

Prior to the contest Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts claimed that tonight would be the turning point for his team. That assertion appeared to be in serious jeopardy when starter Hyun-Jin Ryu had to leave the game with a groin strain having retired only one batter in the 2nd inning. That forced Roberts to dip into his bullpen early and utilize five arms. No judgement here if you thought the Diamondbacks would have capitalized on that opportunity. However, the offense was completely dormant going 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position also leaving eight men on base. Meanwhile, Zack Godley registered another start in which he did not give up a significant amount of runs, only 1 earned, but was unable to find the strike zone with consistency. Only 56 of his 100 pitches were strikes. Arizona avoided being shutout for the first time this season in the 9th with an RBI single from John Ryan Murphy with two outs.

Stick around for a full recap in a few hours.
