Minor League Recap 5/26/2018: Aces Stung by Bees Again

The Aces pitching got shelled again by the Salt Lake Bees, while the other affiliates won

Salt Lake Bees 11 Reno Aces 8

Jack Buchanan had a very rough start, giving up 8 runs (all earned) on 11 hits and 2 walks, while striking out only two batters in 3.1 innings. Braden Shipley came on in relief and pitched 2.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk, though the runs all came on a three run home run in the fourth. Joey Krehbiel and Silvino Bracho would pitch a scoreless inning a piece.

The Aces again rallied late to make the score at least appear respectable. Illdemaro Vargas again lead the Aces in hits, going 3-5 at the plate. Cesar Puello was 1-3 with a walk and home run. Rey Fuentes was 2-5 with a triple. Jack Reinheimer was 1-4 with a home run

Birmingham Barons 8 Jackson Generals 5

Ryan Atkinson had a solid start, pitching 6 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out 5. Bud Jeter started the seventh and got two out, giving up a hit and striking out one, and Kirby Bellow struck out the one batter he faced. Unfortunately, Birmingham would score four runs off of Joel Payamps and two runs off of Yoan Lopez in the ninth putting the game out of reach.

Prior to that, the Generals were up 5-4, backed by Jamie Westbrook who was 2-4 with a triple and a home run, and Jason Morozowski who was 1-2 with a home run. Domingo Leyba was 2-5.

Visalia Rawhide 5 Modesto Nuts 4

Kevin McCanna pitched 5.0 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk, while striking out 5. Jun Garcia pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk. Austin Mason would pitch an inning, but would give up a 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk. Kevin Ginkel would pitch 2 scoreless, hitless innings, walking a batter and striking out 3.

Marcus Wilson was 2-4 with a double and sac fly. Daulton Varsho was 1-4 with a stolen base, his 14th of the year. Pavin Smith was 1-3 with a walk. Camden Duzenack was 3-5, and knocked in 2 runs.

Kane County Cougars 6 Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 5

Matt Peacock pitched 2.0 innings, giving up 5 runs (3 earned thanks to a throwing error by Joey Rose) on 4 hits and a walk, while striking out three. Cole Bartlett pitched 4 scoreless innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 3. Breckin Williams pitched 2 innings, giving up just a walk and striking out 3 batters of his own. Matt Brill pitched a perfect inning in the ninth.

Yoel Yanqui was 2-4 with a walk, and drove in 2 runs. Joey Rose 1-3 with a walk and a two run home run. Eudy Ramos was 1-5 but drove in the other 2 runs of the game. Jasrado Chisholm was 1-5 and Gabriel Maciel was 0-4 with a walk. Ernie De La Trinidad was 0-2 with 3 walks.
