The Diamondbacks minor league affiliates combined to go 2-2 with a pair of tight losses vs. two comfortable wins.

Snake Stars:

3 Stars: Kane County DH Yoel Yanqui 4 for 5, 3 2B, 3 RBI, R

2 Stars: Jackson 2B Domingo Leyba 3 for 4, 3 2B, RBI, 3 R

1 Star: Reno 1B Christian Walker 2 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, R

0 Stars: Reno LHP Jared Miller 13 IP, 2 H, 2 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 0 K

Reno Aces 5, Fresno Grizzlies 2: Taylor Clarke took the mound for the Aces (20-27) and pitched 5 23 shutout baseball on 1 hit with 3 walks and 6 Ks. Neftali Feliz got the final out of the 6th and pitched another scoreless inning while dodging some trouble. Christian Walker belted out a homer in the first inning and a 3-run 6th inning gave Reno the insurance runs they would need when Jared Miller melted down in the 8th inning. Jimmie Sherfy bailed him out and recorded a 5-out save. Jack Reinheimer had a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Jackson Generals 9, Birmingham Barons 5: The Generals doubled the fun with 8 of their 11 hits going for doubles. Domingo Leyba had 3 doubles, Jason Morozowski had 2, and Kevin Medrano, Jamie Westbrook, and Rudy Flores each had 1. The early run support allowed Justin Donatella to cruise with 3 runs allowed in 5 innings with 4 walks and 5 Ks. Birmingham made things interesting, but Yoan Lopez decided to add to the excitement by striking out the side in the 9th to remove any chance of a comeback.

Visalia Rawhide 0, Inland Empire 66ers 3 F/10: Connor Grey had 6 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 2. The Visalia offense was unable to produce any sort of offense in the game, getting shut out in 10 innings. Junior Garcia had a 10th inning to forget as 3 runs came across in that frame. Drew Ellis went 1 for 4 and Pavin Smith went 0 for 3 with a walk.

Kane County Cougars 7, Cedar Rapids Kernels 8: Mack Lemieux got blasted for 7 runs in 5 very ineffective innings, striking out 6 and walking 1 while yielding 7 hits and 1 homer. The Cougars offense was able to battle to make it a 7-5 game late, but the bullpen allowed the critical insurance run to come across and Kane County’s 9th inning rally came up a run short. Yoel Yanqui had 3 doubles and 3 RBI and Gabriel Maciel had 2 hits and scored twice.
