The Diamondbacks minor league affiliates combined to go 3-1 with the Diamondbacks A, A-Adv, and AA affiliates each celebrating 5-0 shutout wins. All three teams had great starting pitching obviously, with the average game score being 77. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go mourn the Dbacks 2018 season.

Reno Aces 3, El Paso Chihuahuas 6: Albert Suarez got the start and got through 3 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 2 Ks. Anthony Vasquez went the next 4 and struck out 7 while allowing 2 runs. The Aces (16-23) had cut the deficit to 3-2, but Stefan Crichton struggled in the 9th inning, allowing 3 critical insurance runs to score before being lifted with 2 outs. Evan Marzilli had 2 hits, including an RBI double, and Kristopher Negron hit out a solo homer in the 9th.
Jackson Generals 5, Mississippi Braves 0: Current Dbacks pitching prospect against former Dbacks pitching prospect matchup in this game as Taylor Widener got the better of Touki Toussaint. Widener, who’s been on a tight pitch count this year, went 6 innings with 4 Ks on 78 pitches and got help with 2 double plays turned behind him. The bullpen pitched 3 scoreless behind him. Juniel Querecto and Jamie Westbrook had two hits and 2 RBIs, the latter hitting a 2-run homer in the 3rd. Kevin Medrano had 2 hits and 2 runs scored.
Visalia Rawhide 5, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 0: Emilio Vargas once again was outstanding with 6 2⁄3 scoreless with 8 Ks vs. 2 walks. Vargas has a 0.87 ERA although he’s walked 23 in 43 2⁄3 IP vs. 53 Ks on the season. The Rawhide scored 2 in the first and never looked back. Drew Ellis had a big 2-run double in the 5th as part of a 2-hit day, Daulton Varsho had 2 hits and a walk, Pavin Smith 1 for 4 with a walk, and Jake Lamb went 1 for 5 in his rehab.
Kane County Cougars 5, Burlington Bees 0: Brian Shaffer struck out 11 in 5 2⁄3 scoreless, but the bats were dormant for 7 innings, so he didn’t get the win. The Cougars didn’t get any XBHs, but took advantage of 7 walks and a timely defensive miscue late. Gabriel Maciel had 2 hits and a walk, Yan Sanchez had two hits and 2 RBI. Bullpen was electric with 7 Ks vs. 2 hits and no walks over the final 3 1⁄3.
