Los Angeles Dodgers 6, Arizona Diamondbacks 3

We bid adieu to the Dodgers until late August, and that will still be too soon.

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Ahmed got this one off to an interesting start with an inside the park home run, the 15th in Diamondbacks history. Fastball velocity continued to be a concern for Patrick Corbin in tonight’s start. He was sitting around 88-90 miles per hour and really had trouble locating it at times causing him to fall behind hitters early. Matters became excruciating in the 4th and 5th innings as he had to work out of a bases loaded jam with only one out in both innings. Miraculously he only allowed 1 run to score over those two frames, but his night was over after pitching five innings. He threw 96 total pitches but only 50 of them for strikes. The recently taxed Diamondbacks bullpen surrendered 5 additional runs in relief to the Dodgers giving them a 6-3 victory and a series split.

Full recap to follow if I don’t fall asleep at my laptop.
