Reno Aces 8, Fresno Grizzlies 4

Taylor Clarke was lights out in his five innings of work tonight. He allowed zero runs, giving up just three hits and a walk, while striking out nine batters. Michael Blazek had a rough go following that up, as he got one batter out, then walked a batter, then gave up a two run home run, and then gave up another home run before being taken out of the game. The rest of the Aces pitching staff managed from there, allowing the Aces to cruise to victory again.

Jack Reinheimer went 2-3 with a walk and home run. Yasmany Tomas went 1-4 with a double. Socrates Brito went 1-3 with a triple and a walk.

Jackson Generals 14, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 6

RHP Taylor Widener made his Dbacks Organizational debut, starting the game for Generals and pitched two innings, struck out five, but gave up 4 runs. He also got his first hit in the Dbacks organization on a bunt single. Joel Payamps got the win, and struck out five, while walking two in three innings of work. Also noteworthy is Mason McCullough who was lights out in his one inning of relief work, allowing no hits or walks, while striking out two.

SS Galli Cribbs went 3-4 with a home run. C Matt Jones went 2-5 with 3 strike outs and 2 home runs. RF Jay Gonzalez also had a big night going 2-3 with a triple and two stolen bases, with him stealing second and third in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Visalia Rawhide 1, Rancho Cucamonga 4

RHP Bo Takahashi had a strong start, striking out 12(!) and walking none in just five innings, while allowing a lone run on three hits via the long ball. Unfortunately for him the offense didn’t show up today, as Rancho Cucamonga’s pitching staff held Visalia to just one run on three hits.

The lone run came after DH Pavin Smith singled, stole a base, and scored when Ramon Hernandez doubled. Jason Morozowski singled, accounting for the only other hit of the game, and stole a base as well. Marcus Wilson struck out twice, but also drew two walks.

Kane County Cougars and Clinton LumberKings: Too Cold to Play

Kane County’s home opener yesterday was canceled due to snow, so a double header was scheduled for today. Due to the cold weather today, the doubleheader today was canceled as well. Because Clinton is not scheduled to return to Kane County during rest of the first half, the teams are now scheduled to make up the two postponed games in Clinton as part of doubleheaders. The first is this Sunday, the next is in June.
