Monday Memes 4/30: N.I.N.E.

What is 3 + 3 + 3? The number of series the Dbacks have won in a row to start the season.

The Dbacks are smokin’ hot right now and they have been all season. As you already know, the Diamondbacks have won their first NINE series to start the season, matching the National League record, which was last accomplished 111 years ago by the Chicago Cubs. That’s pretty impressive.

The Dbacks seem to win in a variety of ways, too. Great pitching has been our staple the past season+, but we’ve seen some amazing defense (especially by AJ Pollock) and some really timely hitting and home runs from unlikely heroes (Ahmed?!?! Two-homer game from Peralta)?

This team is exciting in the way they play.

Of course, now that we’re at 9 series wins to start the season, we now get a rather unfortunate (or maybe, fortunate) obstacle: a 4 game series against the Dodgers. Now, I don’t the exact rules for this streak, but I think that we need to either win 3 or 4 wins against the Dodgers to get to that illustrious 10th series win (a series split would end our streak, I think). Now, I know we’re 5-1 against the Dodgers so far this season, but they are a really good team. It’s going to be a tough series but if we can came away with 3 or 4 wins, that will be our lead over the Dodgers to either 9 or 10 games, which would be an amazing way to extend our streak to 10.

And, if somehow we do get to 10, we then have a three game series against the defending world champion Houston Astros, owners of the best run differential in baseball so far this season.

It’s going to be a tough week! Let’s bring on those memes!
