All the early scoring in this one was courtesy of the home-run. The Nationals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third, on a Ryan Zimmerman shot, but the D-backs pegged those tallies back, courtesy of David Peralta. He went opposite field in the fifth, then second-deck to right off Jeremy Hellickson in the top of the sixth. Another homer immediately gave Washington the lead back, but Arizona tied things up once more in the top of the eighth, when A.J. Pollock singled home Nick Ahmed.

Patrick Corbin didn’t feature in the decision here, but delivered a quality start. He went 6.2 innings, scattering seven hits and a walk. He fanned seven, but did also hit a pair of batters when sliders got away from him. The Arizona bullpen then kept things tidy and forced extra innings. Nick Ahmed doubled to lead off the 10th, and trotted home to make the score 4-3, courtesy of A.J. Pollock’s bases-loaded walk with one out. Brad Boxberger had perhaps his wobbliest save of the year, loading the bases himself, but got a ground ball for the final out, and the win.
