It was a battle of two high profile starting pitchers tonight. Jake Arrieta was slightly better than Zack Greinke allowing the Philadelphia Phillies to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second game of a three stint series. Both teams combined for five runs total through 5 & 1⁄2 innings, but remarkably none of those were driven in via a base hit. That changed when Aaron Altherr stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 6th with two runners on and hit a hanging slider down the middle of the plate from Greinke over the centerfield wall to give the Phillies a 5-3 lead. The Diamondbacks had a golden opportunity to do major damage against Arrieta in the 4th with the bases loaded and no outs, but only came away with one run in the inning.
