Reno Aces 0, Fresno Grizzlies 5

Reno and Fresno had an afternoon game today. Braden Shipley got the start, and through the six innings was excellent, allowing no runs and just three hits and a walk, while striking out five. Joey Krehbiel came into pitch in the seventh and had a very rough outing, getting just one out, and allowing 4 (3 earned) runs on 3 hits and 3 walks. Jake Buchanan came in and cleaned up the mess and pitched 1.1 innings, while allowing 2 hits, one of which was a solo home run.

The offense just couldn’t get going for Reno, with just SS Jack Reinheimer having any real success, reaching base twice, with a singling in the 4th inning, and walking and stealing a base in the top of the seventh. The only other hitter to reach base was Kristopher Negron on a walk.

Jackson Generals, Tennessee Smokies: Postponed Due To Rain

After the third inning, today’s game between the Jackson Generals and the Tennessee Smokies was called due to rain. At the time, Generals lead the Smokies 4-3. The game will resume being played as part of a double-header that will be scheduled during Tennessee’s visit to The Ballpark at Jackson in early June.

Visalia Rawhide 3 Modesto Nuts 4

RHP Sam McWilliams got the start for Visalia, and was excellent through 5 innings, only allowing 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 7 batters, and getting a pick off in the first inning. The Rawhide got on board in the fourth inning, when SS Camden Duzenack tripled and scored on a Pavin Smith ground out. Modesto would score a run to tie it up, but that was all the offense on either side could muster, so the game would go onto extra innings. The Rawhide would score a run in the top of the 11th, on a line drive single that would score the automatic runner, but Modesto would score another run on a wild pitch by relief pitcher Tyler Mark, tying the game back up. Pavin Smith would then double in the top of the 12th inning, scoring the automatic runner, bringing the score to 3-2 Visalia. Unfortunately for the Rawhide, that wasn’t enough, as the Nuts would rally and score two runs off reliever Austin Mason earing the Rawhide another loss in extra innings.

Kane County Cougars, Beloit Snappers: Postponed Due to Rain

Kane County and Beloit were scheduled to have a doubleheader today to make up yesterday’s game which was postponed due to cold. This time it wasn’t the cold or snow that cancelled today’s matches, but rain instead.
