Pit Your Wits ‘18: Week 1

Aaaaaaand we’re back! The Opening Day you’ve really been waiting for is here! Everyone’s favorite variety competion series returns for its... sixth or seventh season now.

Ive seen a lot of new digital faces around the Pit recently, so lets go over the rules, just to make sure we are all on the same page. Every week, Ill give you a prompt. It might be a picture to caption, a marketing opportunity for the diamondbacks, or something related to a story from the Dbacks the week before, or none of the above. You will then put your entry as a comment below the article, then you and the rest of the site vote on all of the entries using the Rec button. The top three comments will be the winners, and will receive leaderboard points corresponding to the number of Rec’s. The more Rec’s you receive, the more points you get!

The season is broken into the two tradition halves of the baseball season as marked by the All Star Break. At the ASB, the whoever is sitting on top of the leaderboard will be the first half finalist. The scoreboard will then reset, and we’ll do it again for the second half, crowing another finalist. Any ties will be broken by who has the highest Rec’d individual winning comment.

After we have our two finalists, they will compete in a championship round. I’ll find the top three winning comments from both finalists, put them in a post, and then give you all a poll to vote on who is the Pit Your Wits ‘18 Champion!

A couple of quick house keeping rules before we get started. First and foremost, we are all friends here, and even if we aren’t, there is zero reason to belittle anyone’s entries. In the event this happens, the offending comments will be deleted as well as any entry the offending commenter makes that week. Responding in kind to the original poster will be met with the same punishment. I will only enforce this rule as sparingly as possible, but I will not hesitate if needed. Two and most obviously, all site rules apply. Third, nacho slides are still banned.

But enough of the formalities, lets get down to business with this season’s first prompt. The team’s official hashtag this season is #GenerationDbacks which, to put it bluntly, sucks. Come up with a new hashtag. Your choice on how you want to go about it. Make it funny, inspiring, nihilistic, go crazy. It’s all up to you. Go!
