On Monday, we kicked off the 2018 AZ SnakePit awards, with the first sub-category in our Play of the Year honor. There are six of these sub-categories in total, each focusing on a different area of the game, and the winner from each will go through to the final vote for Play of the Year, which takes place next week. We’ve already seen the best Jarrod Dyson and Nick Ahmed plays, we now move into the infield, and take a look at five of the best plays made by an infielder not named Ahmed. Note that double-plays which were turned by the Diamondbacks won’t be included here, since they have their own category, which will be taking place later in the week.

The nominees in this category are:

9/9: Avila nabs Acuna at third base

8/18: Goldschmidt’s heads-up DP

5/13: Marte’s twirling play nabs Turner after review

6/19: Lamb dives, throws from his rear

5/10: Greinke snags a comebacker
