2018 ‘Pitties: Ahmed of the Year

On further review, we need another special sub-category

If Jarrod Dyson deserves his own category, then there can hardly be any argument that the same also goes for Nick Ahmed, who won his first Gold Glove this year. [I don’t think, however, there is quite enough material to provide a special section of Zack Greinke web-gems, Gold Glove or not!] Ahmed provided a whole host of highlight-worthy plays, and as I went through them, it was almost impossible to come up with just one which showcased his skills to best effect. So, it was decided to add another special sub-category: below are the plays by Nick Ahmed deemed as the most outstanding. The winner will go forward to the overall poll to determine play of the year, which will now have SIX nominations...

And the nominees for Ahmed of the Year are...

8/29: Ahmed plays carom, nabs Crawford

8/4: Ahmed’s barehanded play

7/26: Ahmed’s long off-balance throw

7/22: Ahmed’s superb play ends game

4/22: Ahmed’s brilliant diving play
