Few events in team history have been so heartwrenching as the departure of Paul Goldschmidt for the St. Louis Cardinals earlier this off-season. But if it’s any consol;ation, it appears that Goldy will miss Arizona and the fans, as much as Arizona and the fans will miss him. He took out a full-page advert in the Arizona Republic today, thanking the team and its supporters for all they did during his time here.

Arizona, thank you
There is something incredibly special about the place where you first see your dreams come true. That’s what Arizona is to me, and man, is this place special. That makes it very hard to say goodbye.
As a community, you welcomed me and my family with open arms. As a franchise, you took a chance on me and gave me the opportunity to play the game I love.
Thank you to all of the fans who have supported me over the years, staying loyal through the ups and downs.
Thank you to the ownership and front office for believing in a 21-year-old kid from Texas, and thank you to the employees for taking such great care of me and my family.
Thank you to every coach, trainer, clubbie and the countless others who were integral in my success.
Lastly, thank you to all of my teammates for the memories and friendships, which go far beyond the diamond.
—Goldy
No, Paul. Thank YOU...
