NL WILD CARD PIT OF HOMICIDE
ROCKIES AT CUBS
5:00 PM: ESPN AND RELEVANT STREAMING PLATFORMS
Kyle Freeland (17-7, 2.85) vs. Jon Lester (18-6, 3.32 ERA)
And we come to the loser’s bracket game. Despite having every opportunity, the Colorado Rockies are now 25 years without a Division Title after barely showing up at Dodger Stadium yesterday. They weren’t the only ones, as somehow a game in the middle of the day on a Monday with less than 20 hours notice that it would happen didn’t seem well-attended. Who knew?
The Cubs will probably have their usual home field advantage, as yesterday’s game had more than enough Milwaukee fans to make it so the Cub fans had to be real loud to drown out visiting chants. If you’ve ever been to a game at Chase Field when the Cubs are in town, you might find this to be some cosmic payback.
How this game is managed by both sides will be interesting. As we are all well aware, it being a do-or-die game means that managers might be more willing to unload the bullpen clip earlier than usual. The problem is, as we also are aware of from last year, is when that happens and you win, you’re behind the 8-Ball for the next round. It’s a balancing act.
The winner of this game will face the Brewers in the NLDS. Feel free to chat about the game here, but just don’t post any spreadsheets of the crimes you’ve done.
