Less than seven weeks from now, spring training kicks off for the Diamondbacks. They open their pre-season schedule with a game against the Arizona State Sun Devils, at Salt River Fields on February 21. Two days later, Cactus League play get under way, when the D-backs take on (who else?) the Colorado Rockies, again at SRF. Single-game tickets go on sale to the general public this Saturday morning at 9am, but I don’t think anyone will mind too much if I let you in on the pre-sale which is taking place today, and will let you snag tickets for any of the pre-season games at Salt River, through the Sun, March 25 one against the Rockies

Sadly, the price of spring training games still seems to be escalating. Lawn seats in the outfield for the D-backs games start at $18 (a buck higher on the weekend): that’s hardly any different from the price for tickets in the outfield for an actual, meaningful contest at Chase Field. And you get an actual seat there. At that price, and given the drive to SRF is twice as long from SnakePit Towers, we won’t be bothering much.
Though I should stress, these increases are not just for Arizona’s home games. I randomly clicked on the March 24 game against the Angels at Tempe Diablo, and the lawn seats there are $25. Guess they need to pay for Shohei Ohtani somehow. And be glad you’re not Cubs fans, where their pre-sale allows you to buy tickets... at 20% ABOVE face value.
