Corbin was coming off a very rocky start last time out, on SnakePitFest against the Padres. But there would be no repeat tonight, as he came just up just one short of giving Torey Lovullo his “21 outs”. Corbin went 6.2 innings, holding the Rockies to one run on four hits, with two walks and seven strikeouts. Meanwhile, the offense piled up 16 hits, scoring in each of the first five innings, and then tacking on three in the seventh, on A.J. Pollock’s 10th home-run of the year.
Pollock had three hits, and it was great also to see Jake Lamb have a multi-hit night, both players having been struggling badly of late. David Peralta and Paul Goldschmidt had two-hit games as well, and Corbin helped his own cause with a pair of hits, also scoring two runs. The bullpen delivered what was needed: Andrew Chafin tidied up the seventh, Jimmie Sherfy worked a clean eighth, though T.J. McFarland had to be bailed out by Archie Bradley in the ninth. The win restored Arizona’s lead over Colorado to four games.
