Arizona Diamondbacks 7, Los Angeles Dodgers 6

The D-backs rode a five-run first inning to take the series opener against the Dodgers at Chase Field.

Arizona charged out of the gate, getting to Rich Hill early. A.J. Pollock got a two-run homer (his eighth), then a two-run single by Brandon Drury and an RBI hit by Jake Lamb, to take a 5-0 lead after the first. But Los Angeles fought back, as Zack Godley’s recent struggles continued, and pulled back to within one run by the middle of the third. Godley did settle down, and ended up going six innings, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

David Peralta added an insurance run with an RBI triple in the fourth, and Paul Goldschmidt added his 32nd home-run in the fifth. David Hernandez and Jorge De La Rosa got through the seventh, although Archie Bradley allowed a rare run in the eighth. Fernando Rodney came in and wasn’t brilliant - he gave up a run and put the tying run in scoring position - but closed it out. Just.

ish95 will be along with the full recap, when he gets back from the park. Also of note, the 50/50 raffle, with proceeds donated to Texas Flood Relief, succeeded in selling out entirely, raising over $40,000. Well done.
