Jack Reinheimer was originally a fifth-round pick by the Mariners in 2013, but was traded to the Diamondbacks in June 2015, as part of the Mark Trumbo trade. He was added to our 40-man roster this winter, so there’s no need for any move there. Reinheimer has spent the season with the Reno Aces, appearing in 101 games for them. His line there is .283/.343/.364, for an OPS of .707, which really is not very good given the environment. Therefore, I’m not expecting much from his bat, but maybe he’ll become another Ketel Marte.
In terms of positions, Reinheimer has started 41 games at shortstop with the Aces, 24 at third-base and 21 at second-base, so he does have a fair degree of positional flexibility. How long this stay will be, also remains to be seen. It will probably be only until Ketel Marte returns from the Dominican Republic, where he is currently, following the unfortunate death of his mother.
The team also announced that relief pitcher David Hernandez and infielder Adam Rosales have reported to the team and will be active for tonight’s game.
