Arizona Diamondbacks 10, Atlanta Braves 3

Series won, mission accomplished

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Though it was a bit dicey, the D-backs hit their way past the Braves and took the rubber game at Chase Field this afternoon, in front of a crowd of over 25,000. Patrick Corbin worked his way into a lot of traffic on the basepaths, but (mostly) worked his way out of it again, and there were a pair of home-runs by J.D. Martinez, plus one by Ketel Marte, the latter being of the exciting inside-the-park variety. Corbin scattered seven hits and four walks over six innings, but held Atlanta to two runs.

After some early jitters and a Jake Lamb sacrifice fly, the D-backs broke through with a four-run third. Daniel Descalso untied the game with a two-run triple, and Marte followed with a ball that caromed off the wall, virtually back to the infield. He made it home standing-up. Martinez added a pair of two-run shots in the 4th and 8th innings, around an RBI single by Brandon Drury. Paul Goldschmidt reached base five times, with a double, single and three walks. I think he’s fine.
