Triple-A Reno 9 @ Oklahoma City 7. The Aces were 8-2 up after a five-run fifth, but it got hairy late. OC got the tying run on in the ninth, and it would have been worse but for a key TOOTBLAN, which gave RF Zach Borenstein an error and an outfield assist on the same play. He also had two hits and a walk, while 2B Kevin Medrano tripled and had two walks. Rudy Flores hit a pinch-hit homer in the ninth, his third; 1B Christian Walker and CF Kristopher Negron also went deep. Braden Shipley got the W, despite 10 hits and two walks in five innings. He K’d four and was charged with three runs. Eric Jokisch pitched two scoreless.
Double-A Jackson 10, Mobile 4. This was close until the bottom of the sixth, when the Generals batted around, scoring six. 1B Kevin Cron had two doubles and a single, 2B Jamie Westbrook two hits and three RBI, LF Kelly Dugan three hits, and C Michael Perez a homer (#2) and a double. Taylor Clarke was the winner, working 5.2 innings and allowing three hits on four hits and three walks, with six strikeouts. David Carpenter’s second appearance went a lot better than his first, as he threw a scoreless ninth.
High-A Visalia 1, Stockton 2. All the scoring came in the fourth, DH Jason Morozowski scoring the Rawhide’s only run on an error. They had their chances to tie this up, but were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Morozowski and CF Matt McPhearson each had two hits. Justin Donatella was the unlucky loser, despite allowing two runs (one unearned) over five innings. He gave up four hits and a walk, with three strikeouts. Austin Mason threw a pair of scoreless relief innings.
A-class Kane County: off.
A-short Hillsboro 8 @ Boise 6. The Hops left it late, scoring five in the eighth to edge the Hawks. SS Camden Duzenack and 2B Ryan Grotjohn each had two hits, and 1B Pavin Smith reached three times on a hit and two walks. Luis Madero scattered 10 hits over six innings, with six K's. He allowed five runs, four earned. Erbert Gonzalez got his 7th save, despite allowing a homer, then putting the tying run on base with one out.
Rookie Missoula 8, Idaho Falls 6. The Osprey got 14 hits, led by LF Gabriel Maciel who had three hits, including his second homer and a walk, driving in four. C Dominic Miroglio had a pair of doubles and two walks, with 2B Jose Caballero and 1B Francis Martinez each getting two hits and a walk. Tyler Vail allowed five runs (three earned) in 5.2 innings on eight hits and four walks, with five K's. Cole Bartlett fanned four over 2.1 scoreless innings.
