Mrs. SnakePit and I were at Chase Field for this one, along with edbigghead, Turambar and a few others - about 40,000 others, I’d guess (turned out to be 39,176), on Robbie Ray bobblehead day. Anthony Banda made his debut, and outside of a first inning blast to Mr Perfect Hair, pitched very well through five, before running out of gas in a three-run sixth. He allowed seven hits and struck out five.
IIt could have been much worse, after J.J. Hoover loaded the bases in the seventh, but Jorge De La Rosa struck out Harper and Zimmerman. However, the offense struggled against Tanner Roark, getting just three hits through seven frames. Arizona got the tying run on base with no outs in the ninth, but despite some long flies, were not able to bring it home. Still: we had fun.
PaulGoldsmith will be along with the full guest recap in a bit.
