This just in, the Diamondbacks need right-handed hitting help in the outfield. Oh, wait. That isn’t new. That’s been the case since A.J. Pollock went on to the disabled list. After being swept by three left-handed starters in Los Angeles and then also dropping Sunday’s affair in Atlanta, it seems like Mike Hazen has seen enough. To that end, the Diamondbacks have traded prospects Dawel Lugo, Sergio Alcantara, and Jose King to Detroit in exchange for slightly more than two months of the services of J.D. Martinez.
Martinez is owed roughly $4 million for the remainder of the season, so that does raise the question of whether or not there is much money left in the war chest for any further moves.
