First off, lets revisit our first post and lets see what the Chicken Enchilada Dog even is:
18-inch chicken enchilada sausage, queso blanco, enchilada sauce, pico de gallo, black olives, sour cream and tortilla strips on a talera hot dog roll
Location: Big Dawgs (Section 126)
I ranked it fourth out of five on my pre-season list of new additions to the park I was looking forward to. The only one I was looking forward to less was Sonoran Vegan burger. I honestly would be surprised if I was more disappointed by the “burger.”
I have to say, it’s not a bad concept. As I was eating it, I could see where someone might think it would be a good idea. There were two big problems with it as I saw it though. The first one being, none of the flavors really “popped.” The toppings of queso blanco, pico de gallo, and sour cream all just blended together into a murky, muddy mess on top of the sausage.
And that sausage... Wow... I did not like it one bit. I was actually at the game with asteroid and Jim when I tried it, and I described it to asteroid as having the same texture and taste as a roller grill sausage that was left under the heat for about six hours. It was leathery, dried out, and bland, just plain gross honestly in my opinion.
Now, in fairness, Jim also had a couple slices, and he liked it a lot more than I did. He had more of a middle piece, which he said helped with the quality of the sausage, having not been overcooked to the extent that the parts more towards the end were. That shows that while this might not be for everyone, there are people who do enjoy it and like it. I guess that’s why they have so many different food stands at the park!
To Mr. Derrick Hall, if some how my humble opinions make it to your desk, please, for the love of Julia Child, please please please get a better supplier of hot dogs and sausages for the ballpark. Food quality and taste would go up 100x just by that one act alone, and make for a much better fan experience.
In the end, I can really give this one more than one star out of five. Enjoy at your own discretion.
