Rate the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first half

35 players appeared for the team. How did they do? Why don’t you tell us?

Back before spring training even began, we asked you to rank the 56 players who had been invited to Salt River Fields. The results were kinda interesting, in terms of seeing what expectations were for various members of the team. But now we have over three months of actual games under our belts, so it seems appropriate to revisit these. Almost half of the names we ranked during spring will not be listed again, having not appeared for the D-backs this year. But we have also had some new additions. Jorge De La Rosa, T.J. McFarland and Tom Wilhelmsen all were added to the spring roster too late, and all have played a part in Arizona season so far.

They will join the 32 previously listed players to appear for the Diamondbacks thus far, ranging from our pre-season #47, Ildemaro Vargas, all the way up to the man at the head of the list (Paul Goldschmidt, naturally), for ranking at the half-way stage. Answers by the end of Wednesday, and I will gather up the results for publication on Thursday. We’ll have a final re-poll, with any new additions over the second half of the season, at the end of the year. Hopefully, some time in November...

It should only take a couple of minutes, and as before, it’s not worth sweating over whether Chris Herrmann should rank an eight or a nine. :)
