1 Star: Reno LHP Anthony Banda 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 5 K, GS 52

Reno Aces 8, Tacoma Rainiers 3: The Aces completed the sweep of the Rainiers, behind 6 solid innings from Anthony Banda. In his last 8 starts, he’s pitched 6 or more innings in 7 of them and has posted a 43 to 11 strikeout to walk ratio and a 1.15 WHIP in those 8 starts. ERA is still a bit high in that time period of 4.56, but has a 3.60 FIP overall, so he’s getting closer to ready. The Aces bats wreaked havoc on the Rainiers bullpen again, scoring 5 runs off them in 3 innings. Christian Walker tied the game with a 2-run homer in the 6th and Ildemaro Vargas slammed out a 2-run homer in the 9th to put the game out of reach. Vargas is 23 for his last 46 at the plate with 4 homers vs. 3 strikeouts although only 2 walks in that stretch.

Jackson Generals 2, Chattanooga Lookouts 7: A fielding error by Colin Walsh allowed 3 unearned runs to score in the 3rd and the Generals were unable to overcome that. Taylor Clarke allowed 4 runs (1 earned) in 4 innings with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Aces made it a game with a run in the 5th and 6th innings to cut the deficit to 2, but Joey Krehbiel got blasted for 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to put the game out of reach.

Kane County Cougars 0, Peoria Chiefs 6: Mike O’Reilly pitched a 2-hit shutout in 85 pitches, with the only 2 hits going to Anfernee Grier for the game. Grier had a single, double, and a stolen base on the day, but his teammates went 0 for 27 with 1 walk. On the other side, Mack Lemieux got torched for 5 runs in 3 23 innings. Just an all-around clunker from the Cougars, and one you just flush away.
