No stars tonight, only 2 games played and not enough standout performances
Reno Aces off day
Jackson Generals 6, Tennessee Smokies 5: Both teams got it going offensively in the middle innings, both teams scoring 4 runs in the 3rd-5th innings. Taylor Clarke allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, 1 walk with 4 strikeouts over 6 innings. Coming into a 4-4 tie in the 7th, Jared Miller allowed a run to score in his 2nd inning of work. Dawel Lugo then tied the game again with a 432-foot solo blast to left center field. After a scoreless inning from Ivan Pineyro, the Generals got a walk, balk, and a double to win things.
Visalia Rawhide 1, Stockton Ports 8: Justin Donatella had a so-so start, with 3 runs over 5 innings. The offense was unable to get things going against Dustin Hurlbutt, who may have the funniest name in baseball. The only form of offense came in a first inning home run by Sergio Alcantara, his 3rd of the season. In the 7th inning, Nick Baker had a monumental meltdown on the mound although he wasn’t helped out by the fact one of the two inherited runners scored after he left the game. The 5-run 7th inning pretty much put aside any notions the game could be won.
