Reno Aces 3, Sacramento River Cats 11: Eric Jokisch and Keyvius Sampson combined to allow 11 runs in 9 innings. The offense came in the form of back-to-back home runs by Oswaldo Arcia and Christian Walker in the 3rd inning, but that was it. Socrates Brito followed up a 4-hit performance with a 2-hit day, one of them being a triple. He’s currently 7 for 20 in his rehab assignment with 3 XBH and a stolen base, so that’s a good sign for him.
Jackson Generals off day
Visalia Rawhide 5, Lake Elsinore Storm 0: The Rawhide got even with a shutout of their own. Bo Takahashi has continued to pitch well in a hitter-friendly league with 6 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks. Henry Castillo provided the thunder with a 2-run shot in the 4th to give the Rawhide a 3-0 lead. After Takahashi was done dominating the Storm lineup, the bullpen picked up where he left off with 6 strikeouts in 3 scoreless innings. Mason McCullough picked up his 4th save with a 2-inning, 5 strikeout performance.
Kane County Cougars 3, Cedar Rapids Kernels 2: Jon Duplantier had another strong outing, with 6 scoreless innings with no walks and 6 strikeouts. At this point, there’s no reason to keep him in the Midwest League because it’s too easy for him. The offense gave him one run of support, which is usually enough for him. However, Tyler Mark decided to steal the win, giving up 2 runs in the 8th inning. Jose Herrera and Manny Jefferson drove in a run in the bottom half of the 8th inning to re-take the lead then closer Ryan Burr pitched a scoreless 9th for the save.
