A bad outing from Patrick Corbin sealed the Diamondbacks’ fate here, as he was tagged for seven runs in only four innings of work, including a grand-slam. The Brewers tattooed Corbin for ten hits and three walks with three strikeouts, as the series that started so promisingly, ended with a wet squish. T.J. McFarland helped save the bullpen - particularly necessary with Randall Delgado starting tomorrow - by throwing three innings of relief, allowing an unearned run, though J.J. Hoover was tagged for a run in the ninth.
Despite falling 8-1 down here, the Arizona batters did finally show up to make things interesting. They actually got the tying run to the plate in the eighth inning, scoring four times and having two on for pinch-hitter Paul Goldschmidt. But he flew out to center field. Brandon Drury had three hits, David Peralta, Nick Ahmed and Daniel Descalso each picked up a pair of knocks.
Joey Lewis will be along with the guest recap shortly - given how this weekend has gone for guestcappers, I may not get anyone to volunteer for June!
