The Arizona Diamondbacks came out of the gates swinging against the San Diego Padres on Friday night. Arizona scored eight runs in the top of the 1st and never looked back in their 10 to 1 victory. It is the fourth straight win for the Diamondbacks and in the process they improved their season record to 25-18.
Padres' starting pitcher Jered Weaver lasted 2/3 of an inning and surrendered seven runs.
Arizona was paced by Jake Lamb, who went 2-5, with two homeruns, five RBI's and two runs scored.
Diamondbacks' starting pitcher Taijuan Walker allowed just two-hits and no runs in six innings.
With the win the Diamondbacks improved to 25-18 and they are two-games behind the National League West leading Colorado Rockies. The Padres on the other hand dropped to 15-29 and are in last place in the NL West.
Game two of the three game series is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. on Saturday night.
