Pit Your Wits ‘17: Week 2

Last week, I asked you to shower your critical anecdotes on the Diamondbacks off season...

As always, a lot of good submissions in the past week. Also, quite a bit of rec’ing going on, as a couple Sedona Red comments didn’t make the podium. Granted, the whole thing kind of morphed from my original prompt of movie poster two sentence review into movie catch phrase but whatever. Long as y’all had fun!

Before we get into who made the top three spots, however, one little bit of rules housekeeping that I forgot to include in last week’s summary. In the event of a tie at the end of one of the segments, the tie break will be whoever has the single most rec’d, first place comment. Meaning, if two players have the same number of points at the All Star Break, and Player A had 7 rec’s on their best win and Player B had 5 rec’s on their best win, Player A will be the first segment champion. Anyway, let’s move on.

In first place, we have DbacKid, taking home the first week of the season!

2017 Offseason

Fired everybody except the owner! What could go wrong?

Manfred, leave my game alone.

With six rec’s, MrMrrbi takes second place!

The D-Backs offseason

Walk of Shame for the prior regime

Lean and mean for the payroll team

Youngsters abound and 2 new receivers

All else fails, pull some more waivers!

Baseball is the greatest game ever invented. Ever. Say Amen.

And in third place, AzRattler and ryeandi!

The 2017 offseason:

Where the Dbacks offer better food, then better ballplayers.

Siskel and Ebert give it two thumbs up!

Mike Hazen’s subtle and nuanced performance stands in stark contrast to the hammy, over-acting of the previous actors tasked with the role. While many critics have already given the most prestigious award to la-la-land, this Hazen lead ensemble might just cast a little moonlight onto the stage.

As I said last week, points are awarded based off the number of rec’s each player got on their submission. HOWEVER! Since ryeandi is technically the only person to actually follow the prompt and give us a movie review of the off season, I am going to award them three bonus points to put them in a tie for first. Seems fair to me, given the circumstances.

And here is the first leaderboard of the season!

DbacKid-8
ryeandi-8
MrMrrbi-6
AzRattler-5

This past week has been a pretty exciting one for Dbacks fans. At the time of me writing this, we are tied with the Rockies for the best record in the National League. The phrase “couldn’t have written it any better” has been thrown around a lot. You couldn’t have written Torey Lovullo’s managerial debut better. You couldn’t have written Archie Bradley’s statement relief outing better. Etc, etc. I want you to do the supposedly impossible. Come up with one thing that could have made this last week better for the Diamondbacks. Go!
