Arizona Diamondbacks 13, Los Angeles Dodgers 5

Arizona scored nine runs in the eighth, in a game which truly had everything.

The Dodgers were two up before recording an out, as Corey Seager tattooed Taijuan Walker for a two-run homer in the first. After the D-backs came back to tie it, the Dodgers blew two more leads, giving up 3-2 and 5-4 leads. Walker was not very impressive, and was charged with four runs in 5.2 innings, on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Archie Bradley gave us his first run of 2017, a solo home-run to the first batter he faced in the seventh. 5-4 down, the D-backs then squandered a second and third, no out chance in the seventh, and (as we’ll see in the full recap!) some thought that was that.

Then the bottom of the eighth happened. Arizona scored the tying run on a bases-loaded walk, then the go-ahead run on a Sergio Romo balk. Paul Goldschmidt drove in two runs with an infield hit, Yasmany Tomas had a two-run double, Chris Iannetta a two-run single and Daniel Descalso and RBI double, as the D-backs sent 14 men to the plate. All told, Goldschmidt, Brandon Drury and David Peralta had two hits apiece, and A.J. Pollock finished a triple shy of the cycle - though also struck out twice in the eighth!

Beercap to follow. No flipping of tables for this one, I suspect!
